In South Dakota, many students committing to the education profession through initiatives like “Teacher Signing Days” are involved in Educators Rising, a national program that fosters the development of future educators. Educators Rising supports young people by providing them with educational resources, leadership opportunities, and competitive events designed to cultivate teaching skills and a deep understanding of the profession. In 2024, 90 graduates from around the state signed their commitment to the field of education.

Educators Rising functions both as a national organization and through school-based chapters, which allow students to engage directly with the teaching field before entering college. By participating in Educators Rising, students gain practical experience through internships, mentorship programs, and teaching practicums, often under the guidance of current educators. This hands-on approach not only helps students confirm their interest in teaching but also builds a solid foundation of skills and knowledge that they will use in their future careers.
